John is a pioneering expert in nonprofit fundraising and donor communications. With a doctorate in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in psychology from Columbia University, he continues to help nonprofits understand and inspire their donors. He created the venture capital company, Social Sector Ventures LLC, to help fund enterprises that focus on helping nonprofit organizations increase their "Relationship Capital" through advanced relationship management, social networking, analytics and cloud computing.
He has helped to found Walvoord Killion McCabe (now KMA/Pursuant), Walvoord Data Systems, Inc. (now Shelby Systems), STRATMARK, Ltd., 2Dialog, Response World, Ltd., 2Listen, and Relationship Analytics. Under his leadership and creative direction, STRATMARK has helped raise almost two billion dollars for nonprofit organizations worldwide.
